Frequently asked questions
Practical answers to questions about making and using QR codes.
Creating QR codes
Are the QR code generators free?
Yes. All listed tools are free in this release. We do not require accounts, payment information or watermarks.
Are these static or dynamic QR codes?
They are static. Your content is encoded directly into the image. If you want a changing destination, use a link to a page you own and can update, not a claim that the QR image itself will change.
What is the difference between PNG and SVG?
PNG is a raster image made of pixels, useful for online graphics and documents. SVG is a vector file that scales smoothly for printed materials. Both contain the same QR pattern.
Can I include a logo?
Yes, upload a PNG, JPG or WebP logo smaller than 2MB. You can change the logo size (10–18%), surrounding spacing, and white or matched background. A center logo hides some modules, so High (H) error correction is automatically selected. Always scan the final download on real phones before printing. Scan-test before printing.
Scanning and reliability
Why is my QR code not scanning?
Try a dark code on a white background, remove the logo, switch to square modules, print it larger, keep the blank border and shorten the encoded content. Test multiple phones.
How small can a printed code be?
There is no universal minimum. It depends on density, print resolution, distance and camera hardware. Test at your actual intended size and viewing distance.
Can a QR code work offline?
Codes containing plain text, phone numbers or certain structured information can be decoded offline by suitable devices. Opening a website requires internet access. The generator itself runs locally after the page loads.
Privacy and security
Do you store my QR content?
No. QR generation uses JavaScript in your browser. We do not operate a QR content storage or scan-tracking service. Basic technical requests are still processed by the hosting provider.
Can someone read the information in my QR image?
Yes. QR images are not encrypted. Anyone who can scan or decode the image may be able to access the embedded content. Take particular care with Wi-Fi credentials and contact details.
Will the code expire?
Static QR patterns do not inherently expire. A QR code containing a link may stop being useful if the linked page is deleted or the domain expires.
