How does email message QR work?
An email QR code encodes a mailto link. When scanned, a compatible device can open its email app with your chosen recipient, subject and body. The QR code does not send messages automatically, and users can edit the draft before sending.
How to make your QR code
- Type the recipient email address and optional subject and message.
- Generate your QR code and test the link on a phone with an email app configured.
- Download the PNG or SVG for posters, support desks or event booths.
Brand your QR code with a logo
Upload your own company logo and choose a circular badge inside the QR, a larger logo beside the code, or both. Choose the center badge shape (white circle or rounded square) and spacing. The QR squares behind the logo are left empty. High error correction helps, but scan-test before printing.
Tips for reliable scanning
- Keep subject lines clear and concise.
- Avoid embedding confidential information in the pre-filled body.
- Make sure your mail address is actively monitored.
Common questions
Will scanning send an email immediately?
No. A scan may open a draft, but the visitor decides whether to send it.
Does this work on every device?
It depends on whether the device supports mailto links and has an email application configured.
Are submitted emails stored on this website?
No. The tool creates a QR image locally and does not handle outgoing email.
